Dental Crowns in McCrae
At Bays Dental Clinic, our goal is to help you keep your natural teeth for a lifetime. However, sometimes there are circumstances where you have a tooth that requires a dental restoration to preserve it, or you may have lost a tooth and need replacement options. If that’s the case, a dental crown or bridge may be a viable option for you. Your dental team in McCrae can evaluate your situation and advise you on the best treatment plan for your needs.
Preserve Your Natural Teeth With Dental Crowns
A dental crown is a customised porcelain cap that fits over your natural tooth to strengthen and protect it. Not only will you be able to chew, brush and floss normally with a dental crown, but it will be nearly indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth because your McCrae dentist can shade your crown to match.
Dental crowns are typically used in the following situations:
- To strengthen and support a tooth when it can no longer hold a dental filling
- To strengthen or support a tooth after root canal therapy
- To complete the dental implant process
- To cover misshapen, stained or flawed teeth
- To anchor a dental bridge
CEREC® Same-Day Technology in McCrae
Our dental clinic offers CEREC same-day crown technology for your convenience. With CEREC, you may not need multiple appointments to restore a damaged tooth. We use advanced CAD/CAM technology designed to create dental crowns efficiently, and in some cases, this may allow patients to receive their crown during a single visit.
The same-day crowns process begins when we capture images of your damaged tooth and then transfer the images to our computer. Then, we use computer-aided design (CAD) to create your restoration and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to mill your dental crown at our dental clinic. Once complete, we can bond your new dental restoration to your natural tooth.
Crown design and placement timelines vary based on individual circumstances. Your dentist will discuss the best approach for your treatment.
Replace Missing Teeth With a Dental Bridge
If you have one or more missing teeth adjacent to each other, your dentist may recommend a dental bridge. A dental bridge is a prosthetic tooth or set of teeth cemented to dental crowns on either side. Your bridge will closely match your natural teeth, giving you a seamless smile with no gaps.
How Can Dental Bridges Help?
Many of our patients who have dental bridges report the following benefits:
- Eating normally again
- Feeling confident about smiling
- Avoiding tooth shifting common after tooth loss

We offer same-day crowns using advanced CEREC technology so you can restore your smile in just one visit. Here’s what to expect:
Our CEREC Same-Day Crown Process at Bays Dental Clinic
Step 1: Consultation and Exam
We start by performing a thorough dental examination. We assess the tooth that’s damaged or decayed to determine if a crown is the right treatment. We’ll discuss your options and answer any questions before moving forward.
Step 2: Digital Scanning
Instead of traditional moulds, we use a comfortable digital scanner to capture a detailed 3D image of your tooth. This technology ensures an accurate fit for your crown and eliminates the need for messy impressions.
Step 3: On-Site Design and Milling
Using CAD/CAM software, we design your crown right here at our dental clinic. Once the design is ready, our in-house milling machine creates your ceramic crown while you relax. The process usually takes about an hour.
Step 4: Fitting and Bonding
After milling, we’ll check the fit, colour and bite. If everything looks and feels right, we’ll bond the crown to your tooth.
Step 5: Enjoy Your Restored Smile
You can leave our McCrae dental clinic with a strong, natural-looking crown that blends beautifully with your smile. Same-day crowns are ideal for patients with busy schedules who want fast, lasting results.

From there, we can digitally design your dental restoration and wait while it is created. In most cases, it takes only a couple of hours for the CEREC machine to complete your dental crown from start to finish.
