Clear Aligners in McCrae

Your smile lets the world know who you are and how you’re feeling; it says more about you than words ever could. So, if you have crooked or crowded teeth, you may hold back when someone is taking pictures or cover your mouth when you talk.

At Bays Dental Clinic, we believe everyone deserves a smile they can be proud of. That’s why we offer clear aligner therapy to straighten your teeth without metal orthodontics.

What Are Clear Aligners?patient holding clear aligners in mccrae

Clear aligners are designed to shift your teeth into a particular position. They are made from smooth, clear plastic, so they’re both discreet and won't irritate your mouth.

You’ll need to wear your aligners for at least 22 hours each day, removing them only to eat, brush and floss your teeth.

If you’re a teenager or adult with any of the following mild to moderate orthodontic concerns, clear aligners may be a good choice for your smile:

  • Crowded or gapped teeth
  • Overbite, underbite or crossbite
  • Crooked or misaligned teeth
  • A relapse after previous orthodontic treatment

Caring for Clear Aligners: What You Need to Know

It’s essential to care for your clear aligners properly, as this will ensure their comfort and effectiveness while also helping you maintain good hygiene. Follow these care tips for the best results:

Cleaning

Each day, use a soft toothbrush and mild soap to clean your aligners. Be sure to avoid hot water, as it can warp them.

Rinsing

Every time you remove your aligners, rinse them with cool water. This will eliminate some of the harmful bacteria.

Storing

When you aren’t wearing your aligners, make sure to store them in their case so you won’t lose or damage them.

Removing

Always remove your aligners before eating or drinking. You can drink water without taking them out, but that’s it!

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! Clear aligners in McCrae can correct most orthodontic concerns, except for complex bite issues.

The best way to figure out if clear aligners will work for you is to arrange a booking with one of our dentists for a consultation. They use 3-D imaging, photos and x-rays to evaluate your teeth and smile and a thorough exam to determine if clear aligners are right for you.

Which Concerns Can Clear Aligners in McCrae Address?

Every case is unique, but some of the orthodontic concerns that clear aligners help with are:

  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Crooked teeth
  • Tooth crowding or overlapping

How Do Clear Aligners Move Teeth?

Compliance during treatment is critical to your success with clear aligners. Wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours per day is the key to successful and timely treatment. However, the good news is that the aligners are removable, so eating, brushing and flossing are easy.

You'll wear your aligners for about two weeks before moving to the next set in the series. Most patients finish their treatment in around 10 to 18 months.

We use the latest technology to assess your needs and create a treatment plan suited to your smile goals and oral health concerns.

Here are the steps of the treatment process:

  • Consultation and assessment — First, we will examine your teeth and take digital scans to determine your eligibility for clear aligners. We’ll use these scans to design your aligners.
  • Treatment plan — Next, we’ll use 3D imaging to map out your treatment journey. We can even show you a preview of your final results!
  • Aligner fitting — Once your aligners arrive, we’ll provide you with detailed instructions on how long to wear them and when to switch to a new set.
  • Ongoing maintenance — You’ll stop by for occasional check-ins, allowing us to monitor your progress and make adjustments as needed.
  • Retainers — After you complete your treatment, we’ll fit you for a retainer. Used properly, this will keep your teeth from shifting back to where they were before treatment.
